that time of year again

that time of year again
When the great earth, abandoning day, rolls up the deeps of the heavens and the universe, a new door opens for the human spirit, and there are few so clownish that some awareness of the mystery of being does not touch them as they gaze. For a moment of night we have a glimpse of ourselves and of our world islanded in its stream of stars—pilgrims of mortality, voyaging between horizons across eternal seas of space and time. Fugitive though the instant be, the spirit of man is, during it, ennobled by a genuine moment of emotional dignity, and poetry makes its own both the human spirit and experience.

ingredients: silver, yellow opal, sleeping beauty turquoise, vintage lenticular toy* from my collection
(If you are not familiar with lenticulars, they show a different view of the image depending on the angle of viewing. One image morphs beautifully into the other as you move. I’ve tried to show this in the photographs but it is a challenge.) Take a peek at the video on my instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/CCHbw6TpQJp/
dimensions: 2 inches long including the ear wire. They are not quite 3/4ths of an inch wide.
I have hand-engraved an abbreviated compendium of simple yet very useful information on the backs for referral during the potentially challenging time frame when Mercury goes retrograde:
-communicate intuitively
-do not take things personnally
-embrace the unexpected
-this is a time of truth
-go back to Beginner’s Mind
-feel into subtle nuances of energy and emotion
*The lenticular is plastic, but backed by paper, so it’s best not to get these wet. You can use a toothbrush and mild soap to clean the yellow opal part of the earring, but keep the dangle out of the water when you are doing that. Wipe the lenticular section with a damp cloth to clean it.
