Let the sun fall in your cupped hand.
Today, be only this:
the thing that holds the light.
Humans have been enjoying honey for at least 40,000 years and its healing properties are well known. These earrings are a celebration of this history, showcasing an illustration that is several hundreds of years old in the trapezoid copper panels.
made of: silver, 24k, copper, natural Brazilian citrine, vitreous enamel, iron oxide transfer
measurements: The enameled panel measures almost 1.25 inches long and is 3/4ths of an inch wide. The entire earring, including the sterling ear wire, is just over 2 inches long.
process: The enameling process for making these earrings is labor-intensive. It involves laying layers of finely-ground glass onto the copper forms and firing them multiple times at very high temperatures in a kiln. Lots of protective gear involved at every step. Then I painstakingly gather, cut and arrange tiny fragments of text and imagery from many different eras in history and fuse them into the enamel along with 24k gold (the bees) to tell the stories we may have forgotten.
